    Aloha,
What is the consensus on using children's names when writing anecdotal evidence for the classroom and program portfolios for NAEYC accreditation?  When labeling pictures that are being used as evidence, should the children's names be used?  If names are used, should they be first names only, last names only, just initials, or combinations?  My personal feeling is no names or fictitious names, but I would like to know the correct procedure.  Mahalo for your help!

    Aloha!
There are times when the assessment item might require a specific work product or examples of completed documents. In this case assessors prefer that programs remove identifying information or redact it as it is not necessary. There is one specific assessment item that expressly states this (4E.5 - provide two examples of the written child assessment reports that are shared with families (completed within the past year; identifying information obscured).
Please keep in mind however that assessors are bound by a code of ethical conduct and sign off on the day of the visit as part of the closing meeting that they maintain confidentiality.
