I have been seeking for a part time daycare assistant since August 2018.  I also have been seeking classes to finish up my 3 Credentials as well trying to find a accurate real support group for small town daycare providers such as myself. I am experiencing racism and it sucks.  Yet I am wondering where can I get some unbias, everyone is equal group support; get adequate directions on course for  my credentials, and reliable and dependable assistant?  I was turned down for the headstart collaboration without any further explanation on why?

I am so sorry that you are experiencing all of that! First thing, How are you advertising for an assistant? Do you have a set system in place for hiring and resumes to be sent in? Second thing do you know anyone within the headstart program in which you can contact for support? If you need someone to vent too or a listening ear or help please feel free to email me. I would be glad to help and support you in your journey! I understand how it is to deal with racism when trying to be great.

    Great Evening,

It can be extremely frustrating trying to find the right person versus just hiring someone for help. I agree with the other response, that it can depend on where and how you are seeking part time help. Hopefully you will be able to find the right person in time or through networking. It is unfortunate that you are experiencing people or organizations that are unable to help. However no one can stop you from accomplishing your goals. There maybe stumbling blocks along the way but remain strong and know that if you continue to strive for excellence it will happen maybe not now but in time and you will find an assistant the right one.

Thank you, I have to travel in order to get some information or support.  I have done recruitment on LinkIn and since Care.com want $300.00 for recruitment I stopped advertising there.  I even sent SBC Small Business College for recruitment, I have not heard anything back from them.  Every thing is a mountain that I tell it to move and pray on a daily.

Have you tried placing an ad with your local Community college - Danville Area Community College?
I saw that they offer 2 programs that might have students that would want to work part time.
Career Degree: EARLY CHILDHOOD: CHILDCARE OPTION and
Career Certificate: EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING ASSISTANT

We have also had a terrible time recruiting Assistants for our childcare. Our problem is that our school district has a lower pay rate than the surrounding childcare centers. We pay $12.66 per hour.

I hope you find an assistant & that you can get the support you need for your own continued education.

I don't know if our Mentor Program in California could help point you towards finding further support.
    Their site is https://www.ecementor.org/

You might also try The Program for Infant/Toddler Care. Their site is https://www.pitc.org/pub/pitc_docs/home.csp

Recently, we have been posting on Indeed.com, which allows you to post for free or to sponsor your listing at a price that works for you.  I have found that I receive a lot of resumes this way.  However, many do not necessarily have the background and experience that I am looking for so I need to sort through a lot of resumes before I find candidates that I am interested in.  I wish you good luck!

The state Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) are one place to get support for your work and to network with other child care providers. I see that Illinois has the ExceleRate Illinois QRIS. http://www.excelerateillinoisproviders.com
I'm only familiar with the work of the Virginia Quality QRIS but hope the Illinois program can be as helpful.
Does your state affiliate, http://illinoisaeyc.org, have a job listing service?

The NAEYC Diversity and Equity Education for Adults Interest Forum is a wonderful group for fighting bias and to get support. See the group on this HELLO platform and on Facebook.
    Best wishes,
    Peggy
