NAEYC has a couple of advisory boards: the Affiliate Advisory Council (AAC) and the Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC). When I first joined the AAC, we were given a short book/booklet from BoardSource on Advisory Councils, which was incredibly helpful. It includes info on the purpose and roles of advisory councils vs governing boards. BoardSource has a downloadable handout with some quick info (
https://boardsource.org/advisory-councils-nine-keys-success/ ), but you can search for other info there, as well.

Subject: Community advisory board
Has anyone created a community advisory board to operate as part of a regional meeting? Do you have resources to share? I would like to establish the purpose, definition and policies that might help create an active community service, as well as establishing a worthwhile professional activity for attendees.
