  • 1.  2020 Annual Conference in CA questions

I am new to NAEYC (although I was Nationally Accredited with NAFCC) and would love to attend the 2020 conference in Nov in Ca.  I am an in-home childcare/preschool and need to plan ahead, both time and funds.  I generally give my calendar to my families for the full year.  How does this conference work?  The dates show Nov 4-7 does that mean on the 4th a full day of classes is offered or is that like the 1/2 day you register and have a general session kind of thing, so people can plan and fly in that morning or do you want to come in the night/day before?  The leaving is no problem flying out on a Sunday...it's the figuring out getting there and not missing good stuff/information/events.  I love on MN and have never been to CA.

I have gone to NAFCC conferences but want to see if this is more of the direction focus I need in training.  Thank you for any tips or advice on planning this conference trip!!

    thanks Wendy Prokosch

    Hi Wendy,
I have gone to 2 NAEYC annual conferences. Based on those two I would recommend getting into Anaheim on Tuesday night which would be November 3rd. Personally I like to get there the night before, even if it is a late flight so I can be refreshed and ready to attend the earliest of sessions on that first day. There are pre-conference workshop that happen on Tuesday, November 2nd, however to attend those you have to submit another registration fee to be able to attend those classes. Looking back at this year's book of classes there were a total of 6 classes offered on that day, half of which were about accreditation. Wednesday classes start at 8:15am and you will have full days between classes, networking and the expo! Saturday sessions end around noon and a closing celebration follows that. If you stay for the whole entire conference you would still be able to fly out late on Saturday afternoon.
    Hope this helps!

Thank you this really helps me get an idea.  Is there generally hotels attached to the conference locations?  Also does anyone know if the a barrage cost for the conference or it they have scholarships you can apply for??

    thanks ladies!

When you register for the conference they have a listing of hotels and prices. If I remember correctly you are able to reserve your hotel right through the NAEYC website when you sign up for the conference.
