Curious what other university child care centers are doing around the country.  More specifically, how are you guys handling tuition and fees related to "holding spots" for families who opt to not send their children to group care or in the case of having to offer prioritized care due to a skeleton crew for staff?  We are fully reliant on tuition at our center and trying to find the balance between not being a financial burden on our families while keeping our Center financially viable during this time.  Thank you in advance for any insights and info on how you guys are handling this situation....

    Hi! Angel,

Due to a Louisiana mandate of school closure we're closed until April 13, 2020. We have cease tuition and have stop payroll deduction. Tuition was just charged for March 1-16, 2020. In addition, the university has shut down and moved to online classes. However, if families have paided for the entire month of March a credit can be given or a refund.

I am based on the campus of a community college and our governor asked that all colleges and universities go online for the remainder of the semester. This means our center is also closed for the remainder of the semester. We are not charging tuition for the time we are not in school and my teachers are still getting paid, according to the college.

In Ohio, we have been ordered to stay at home.  The University Center has discontinued child care services through the end of Spring semester.  We gave families 50% off their March Tuition and have suspended payments until we reopen.  Best of luck to you!

We have stayed open, but running at attendance of half or less than half of enrollment. When the governor closed public schools our attendance dropped, when the college began to allow employees to work from home if they are able our attendance dropped further. The governor continues to ask childcare to remain open for essential workers. Our local public schools and other community organizations have opened a location for first responders to sign up for free childcare through their employers. The college closed our center for spring break week and allowed all staff to be home for the week to allow for building sanitization. We are scheduled to open back up next week. We are going to be doing our best to follow recommendations of the Iowa Dept. of Public Health to mitigate spread. It's been a struggle because parents are divided about whether we should stay open or not, what their employers are telling them, and about tuition payment. We are waiting for daily communications from our Director after she hears communication from the college administration. Stress levels are rising as staff are concerned about exposure to themselves and their families, concerned about the parents we serve, and concerned about the children we love.
