Hi Deborah,
I believe the Spirit is already perfect in all ways. It is not born and does not die, hence it does not change. What I believe changes is our capacity to access the Spirit. As an early childhood professional my desire is to nurture children's ability to "tune in" to their inner spirit. I have observed the sense of wonder and awe some children experience when they get to be outside, especially when they can play freely and explore to their heart's content.
Having a positive experience in Nature is one "window" into the Spirit. However, not all children have the opportunity for positive experiences in nature. Just being outdoors does not mean their experience with nature is positive.

Subject: spiritual development
Hi everyone, I have just returned from a conference on Nature Education where I presented my work on the relationship between spiritual development, naturalistic play, and time in nature. During the workshop I asked participants for their opinion on an important debate: Should we be referring to spirituality or spiritual development? This group of nature educators voted for both. Here is what they shared. It is spiritual in that we are born with as essence or spirit that exists within. It is spiritual development in that we grow and change as we age, thus that inner spirit also grows and changes thus it develops. What are your thoughts on this?
