Re open the family childcare

My family childcare is opened on June 1st. Two weeks before to open I sent an email to the parents along with the guidelines.
After three and a half month, I was so nervous and uncertain about to open the daycare. There were so many queries was rolling
in my mind. How I gone a meet the infants with the mask, will they recognize me , or may be scared. And will the parents follow the
COVID-19 guide lines what I sent to them.First thing I did after sanitize the place I decided to buy scrubs for me and my staff. As I informed the parents at the arrival time they called me came to the table which( I put outside the daycare in my backyard ) Parents were wearing mask
and gloves. Took the child's temperature, used their own pen to sign in and wrote the child's temperature. Children were not scared of the mask
and very excited to see me. I had to go all the time out side the daycare to recieve the child. Reduced the time from 8 am till 3 pm, instead of 5 pm.
But today is the 5th day the week is over parents are following the guidelines. Instead of sending child's folder everyday I am showing the daily report to the parent. Its working very well no pressures. Children are happy parents are satisfied. Parents are talking to me on text.

That's great news for everyone! Keep doing what you're doing it goes a long way. Also so glad the children wasn't afraid and so happy to see you again. Thanks for following the guidelines.

I am so glad. We aren't open yet but I have the exact same worries. You give me heart that it just might be all right!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We all need to know what is and isn't working. What, if anything, are you doing differently with the children? Would you tell us some more?

    Hello
Thank you for sharing your Covid -19 policies with us.Although I have my policies and procedures in place, I'm still afraid to open. With all the protesting,I believe we are going to see a second wave on Covid -19,I'm praying we don't,however the cdc guidelines and recommendations  are not being followed. And I'm also concerned about the 6feet social distances in a childcare center. Its impossible.
Please share your thoughts.Help me Please.

Thank you for sharing. I work in Flint MI and have the same worries. With the protesting I am fearful of a second, more detrimental wave of Covid-19. Fearful for not just my own family but for the families I serve as well.

Good morning like other providers I was so confused but I sent this email 10 days before to open, parents replied happily
and following the rule.  I attended so many webinars about to reopen but there was no format. May be its helpful to my other providers too.

    Following are the guidelines :
The new time will be from 8 am till 3 pm
1- I will receive your child outside of the family childcare.
2- Every day fever has to be checked. Child should have his own thermometer in his bag pack. No thermometer sharing
3- Parents has to wear mask when drop off and pickup the child.
4- Provider and her assistant will also have masks and gloves on during work hours.
5- Parent has to sign in and sign out manually and will use their own pen
    no pen sharing.
6- Call me when you are coming to pickup the child so I will bring him outside.
7- I need one shirt ant paint which will be in his cubby and I will change him as soon child will arrive and will put his outfit back on at the time of pickup
8- Parent has to inform me if any family member is sick or has COVID-19.
If I will get any additional order from office of licencing WILL inform you
its not hard to follow because I care about child you and my staff.
Being a caring childcare provider I love the child and the parent
    thanks

Thank you for sharing your experience Malika. I can feel your nervousness and uncertainty of what to expect. It sounds like you took most cautious steps in assuring that you accepted your students in the safest appropriate guideline model.
The unknown always makes us feel uneasy. We opened up pop up sites for essential workers and teaching staff felt the same uneasiness. They had same concerns as you. Gladly, everything turned out well for you. I'm happy to hear. We followed very close, similar guidelines as  you and everything turned out well also. For art, children had their own baskets with art materials, staff sanitized daily. Checked parents, staff and children' temperatures upon arrival. Children left shoes outside and were barefoot indoors. Staff wore booties, plastic aprons, masks, gloves, some had head coverings. Staff were trained on PPE prior to children's first day. Parents had prepared their children very well in regards to social distancing prior to the children's first day at school. The children adjusted quite quickly and staff constantly reminded them through social books, verbal reminders, and chants for washing hands and reasoning behind social distancing practices.

We are planning to open our center after the 4th of July weekend. I am grateful for this group for sharing the different approaches to keep the children safe.
I am attaching our plan for reopening and I hope I covered all the required information on this form.  If you have established a policy for tuition/refund, staff sickness policy, or Suspected and Positive Cases of COVID-19, would you please share? Thanks
