  • 1.  NAEYC Combined Classes Profiles

    Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to get the below question answered but have not received a response from the accreditation support e-mail in over 2 weeks and am hoping someone on here may be able to help:

We are filling out class profiles for our accreditation application. Our preschool through Kindergarten classes end their day at 3:30, however there is an optional after school care from 3:30 until 6 pm. During this time, children from both preschool classes join one group. Does this count as a combined class since it is for more than 2 hours, but it is not considered part of the academic day?

For the staff that monitor the children from 3:30-6, do we also need to make them profiles?

When it asks about the program day, we have infant toddlers from 7am to 6pm but preschool through kindergarten are here from 8am-3:30 with the option of after school care until 6pm. How should we reflect this in our site profile?

Thank you so much for any and all advice :)
    Alison

    Hello Alison,

This is a common scenario in many programs. You will want to document the combined class time from 3:30 until 6:00 PM as separate class(es) in the combined-class profile in your accreditation portal. The teaching staff members that lead and/or assist in the after-care class(es) should also be added to your staff profile in the accreditation portal.

When it comes to the Class Portfolios, you may create an addendum to your existing preschool and/or kindergarten Class Portfolio(s) that includes documentation for the types of activities and materials the after-care class(es) are doing and using, if not already documented there.

Hopefully this answers your questions however, please feel free to reply again if you have follow-up questions.

    Warm Regards,
