  • 1.  Virtual Classroom Screen Time

Has NAEYC released a policy on DAP screen time for the virtual classroom? We are a Head Start with both EHS/HS classrooms preparing to begin all virtual in Sept. We have collaborations with local school districts and their screen times are looking like 4 hours for prek classes. Is there a current written policy that I can use as guidance?

    Hi Carla-
Our program is beginning to look at virtual classroom as well.  I'm wondering if you can share some of the ideas you are using to make it successful ie what will the programming look like? Zoom meetings, recorded videos, curriculum, etc...

    Hello Angela,
We are using both Microsoft Teams and Zoom to conduct the virtual classrooms. We have created a routine(loose schedule) because we know that the families may not be able to do everything at the exact times. We also want to offer them different times for the student to interact with the teacher that will work with home schedules. We are also giving the teachers activities and links for lessons. One thing we are trying is to see if the teachers can record themselves doing 1 read aloud a week that can be emailed to the families and viewed as often as they want.
