    Hello!

We are currently using COR for assessment but because we use Child Plus and are partly Early Head Start, we are curious about using DRDP. Is anyone using it that can attest to how easy it is to use? Or if there's anything you don't like about it?

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Hi Stephanie,

I see that it's been awhile since you posted this, however our program is also looking into the DRDP and I am wondering if you have found out any information about it or if you have switched to it and if so, what do you think.  Any feedback is helpful!

    Thank you,

    Hi Lori,

No, we didn't get much feedback about DRDP. One of my coworkers did do a webinar about it but we haven't dived too deep into it yet. We were actually just discussing yesterday utilizing it for our in-home educators for the first year and then moving our center-based faculty later.

Where are you guys on the process?

    Sincerely,

We are looking at using it for our home based home visiting program.  We are still in the decision making process, however we did talk to a program that is using it and they had very positive things to say about it.  We are not happy with our current child assessment system- mainly for the quality of the reports, we are a Head Start program and have to do a lot of reporting, so we have been looking into a new system that is developmentally appropriate, will work well in a home based program and creates good reports as well.

Hi, I am a certified DRDP trainer and all of my programs use it as our assessment tool.  I am not from CA, but we have lived here for almost three years and I really like it.  It is very easy to use.  There is tons of free training out there through CECO and DRDP on how to use it and when you couple it with the DRDPonline system as well as the Foundation and Frameworks, it is top notch.  The resources were developed by California Department of Ed, but they are research based so they are applicable to any state or curriculum.

    Happy to answer any questions.

I thought about using it last year, but I could not wrap my mind around it. It's like millions of pages, I eventually stopped printing it out. I could not see having all those pages for the parents to look through.

    Hi Tatina,
It can seem overwhelmingly long :)  I just wanted to make sure that you knew that there are several different ones (called views) that you can use.  The Comprehensive View is the longest (56 measures) and is typically used in state preschool settings and for children with IEPs.  The Essential View is much shorter (29 measures) and captures a great deal of information as well.  Even more, some of those 29 measures do not have to be completed unless the child is a dual language learner.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I own and operate a Family Childcare/Preschool and was thinking, that the process is way to much. I currently use 2 different assessments and was trying to streamline it to one format.
