    Hi,
I am not an educator, but a firm believer in ECE. I also believe that the math and science education in EC, is essential in addressing the equity and knowledge gap in later years.

I am looking for some resources to start math and science program in local literacy center and not-for-profit groups in South West Florida for underprivileged children 0-8 years of age. Need some tips on - 1). how to sell the idea, and 2). curriculum development. If there is a roadmap already out there, it will be easy to follow.
    Thanks
    Jay Sonti

    Hi Jayashree,
You might take a look at the resource section of the NAEYC ECSIF here on Hello. The National Science Teaching Association also has many resources including the column I write for the elementary school journal Science and Children, The Early Years, and the companion blog http://blog.nsta.org/category/earlyyears/
    Best wishes,
    Peggy

Jayashree, once you have some thoughts on how to get started, you might check in with the faculty at local community and 4 year colleges to see if they might be willing/interested in encouraging their future educators (ECE or Elementary Ed) to get involved. They may be interested in helping you to plan your curriculum, gather supplies, volunteer to work with the kids. It's great experience for them- and, they're obviously a terrific resource for you! Just a thought. Good luck!
