    Hello everyone,

Thank you for the notes that have come in via Hello!, social media, and email about NAEYC's statement on the election. NAEYC is a non-partisan organization, and the statement reflects our congratulations to the nation's President-Elect and Vice-President Elect and our intention to work with them and all members of Congress as we move forward a unified agenda for children, families, and early childhood educators.

Members of NAEYC and our Affiliate network are deeply engaged in education and advocacy with members of both parties in their states and communities. NAEYC has and will always continue to celebrate the engagement and leadership of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents at all levels when they stand up for our explicit and shared values and investments in child care and early learning.

Our membership is diverse in all ways, and while we appreciate the challenges of partisanship, we value the many perspectives of our members and the early childhood field at large. As we said in our statement following the 2016 election, "as early childhood educators, we are bound by a professional code of ethics that fights bias and respects the dignity, worth and uniqueness of all individuals, regardless of the color of their skin, the place in which they worship, the people they love, or the candidates for whom they voted...We have work to do, and we will do this work together. It will require bravery and courage; empathy and determination. So let's get to it. Let's hold our elected officials, at all levels of government, responsible for delivering on the promise of early childhood education, for the good of our children, our families and our nation."

Thank you for being a member of NAEYC, an early childhood educator, and an advocate for children and families. We look forward to continued work together!

    All the best,

    Lauren
