Can you recommend some good sources to find on-line trainings? While we do have some conferences in the area, I have a teacher who is looking for something deeper than the trainings/conferences that seem "basic" for her level of knowledge.
    Thank you.

    Hi Paula,

Ohio State University in conjunction with USDA and the Department of Defense have created an on-line learning available to the public at no cost. It is called Virtual Lab School.  There are a plethora of resources and links to other agencies too.

There are courses/modules for caregivers, food service workers, trainers, and managers.

Let me know what you think!

And to count the webinars for in-service hours, must the viewer document the title and thoughts about what they watched?  Counting the length of the video and the reflection time?
    Thanks!

For EdWeb Webinars, you get a certificate of completion if you watch the webinars live.  If you don't watch them live, you receive your certificate upon taking a short quiz following the webinar viewing.  There is also a way to log your thoughts about what you learned before you print your certificates.  The certificates do detail the length of the webinar as well.  One of the nice things about that community is that it is all completely free.

I'm not sure how the ContinuEd webinars work in this manner as I haven't used them personally yet, but have heard good things about them.  The downside is that you do have to pay for their services.

    Hi,

My staff and I use CCEI.  It's been the best for online trainings.  My staff are required to take at least one class every month and then share with the group at our monthly staff meetings.  There are classes for teachers and administrators. Check it out. We love it!

I've included below some information about the NAEYC online modules, which might be helpful:

NAEYC currently has 5 online modules available in English, on developmentally appropriate practice and higher order thinking topics. All modules are self-paced, approximately 1-hour in length, and provide a certificate for 1 training hour upon completion. Two of the DAP online modules are also available in Mandarin. All NAEYC Standard members are eligible for 1 free module per membership year, and Premium members are eligible to receive 2 free modules per membership year.

Additionally, NAEYC just launched a new mini-course on Classroom-Based Assessment. This 3-hour course provides an overview of assessment, observation and documentation strategies for teachers. Please note: the Classroom-Based Assessment mini course is not eligible for the member benefit.

edWeb is an online learning platform that has an early childhood track and has partnership with some of the book companies like Gryphon House and Exchange where authors give 1 hour sessions for free.

    Cassandra -

Are there plans for NAEYC to provide more training modules and resources in Spanish? I have been searching the NAEYC site for resources in Spanish (for teachers-in-training whose first language is Spanish) and found it to be very limited. Considering the Spanish language is the second most spoken in the US, I am very surprised that there are not more resources in Spanish available through NAEYC. Moreover, the fact that there is a new draft of a NAEYC diversity statement emphasizing linguistically appropriate ECE classrooms, it seems it should be true of the trainings NAEYC provides to teachers.

Thank you for your interest in NAEYC content translated into Spanish. We are building an archive of our Spanish-language content that's available online, you can see our first attempt at the bottom of this page:  https://www.naeyc.org/our-work/global/global-blogs-and-articles.  We are actively seeking ways to increase our content into Spanish and other languages. NAEYC is committed to building our Spanish-language capacity. Stay tuned! We do anticipate releasing more Spanish content in the coming months.
