    Hi there-

I am looking for good articles/links to send to our toddler families so that they can learn about:

    1. Hitting, biting, etc. is a typical toddler behavior

    2. empathy-being kind to families that have a child that may be the hitter or biter

    3. trusting us as educators

I know I don't even need to say more....

    Thanks in advance!

    Jill

I have found different resources and articles via the NAEYC website and Zero to three website that covers a variety of topics. Some articles will list out resources like books, activities etc.

Thank you everyone for your great suggestions!!  This is our first year with a toddler program and the resources you shared are great help!
Funny how there seems to be a lot of resources for biting :)
I'm still looking for some good resources that have to do with teaching parents to be patient and accepting that other children may hit or hurt their child.I know it's a tough one.....

One more thing that is a great aid to parents is a weekly email from  Aha! Parenting.com.  Free and offers explanations and encouragement for all ages!    Our parents started sharing  it!

    Hello,

I refer to PITC books and manuals  a lot as I believe in their philosophy of caring, small groups, consistency and routines. Ron Lally and their staff at West Ed do conduct lots of webinars that anyone can attend.
We also have Young Children magazines available to our parents - they can borrow it for a week and return them.

    HI,
I highly recommend the book 1,2,3 the toddler years. It is very congruent with PITC (Partners for Infant/toddler caregivers).  The author is Irene Van der Zande. It includes a forward by Magda Gerber. It has short to-the-point chapters on biting and one called: fighting... its part of life too.
I also frequently recommend that parents read the book, Diaper Free, before Three. She has a lovely gentle and empowering approach. author is Jill Lekovic MD.
