Depends on your state's implementation but I urge you look into this now because, in the case of CA, we are advocating for change to a mixed delivery system rather than funding going only to public school districts - which was legislated swiftly and without sufficient input by the EC sector or providers.  Bottom line, UPK is implemented in different ways across the country and the "results will vary" for families - who deserve options to meet their needs, and for educators across the variety of pre-K programs.  My idea is to fund any programs that meet criteria of diversity that match what's representative of the general area (not only of the immediate neighborhood, which is de facto segregated).  I believe children need to be learning in diverse settings from the start of their lives, and hand in hand with that of course teachers need to learn to work with a diversity of families/children, co-workers etc.--

I agree with your response! Not that I am against private run healthcare facilities, but it is very costly for some families. I think if all these centers are under one umbrella and getting the same support from the states or educational system it would be better for both the centers and the families. The main concerns should be the benefit and improvement for our young learners with less strain on families.

I thought this video on the topic was very well done...

"Without thoughtful implementation, a proposal for universal Pre-K could derail much of the country's child care system, particularly for infants, toddlers, and their families. Families need access to early care and education that supports their ability to work and their children's healthy development now, more than ever. Policy solutions that support a mixed delivery system--by offering Pre-K in community-based child care programs--can support a robust child care market and ensure families have access to early care and education that works for them: https://bipartisanpolicy.org/policy-a...
