  • 1.  In-Home Accreditation

Hello, I run an in-home state licensed preschool and was interested in getting accredited.  I was told because I live in the home, it's not allowed.  Is there no way to get accredited as an in-home with NAEYC?  If not, I don't understand why they would deny someone who is only wanting to improve their program.

Did you talk to NAFCC because I know that they will do their accreditation for any program that is based in a home.   I think you will have difficulties getting NAEYC to do the accreditation since you live in the program.  If you had a separate location (like how the FCCH2 works sometimes) that would probably be different.

Are you enrolled in Step Up to Quality?  I would see as much or more benefit in participating in that than doing accreditation.  Accreditation only gets you to a step 3 and with all the potential projects/programs that are on the horizon SUTQ will, at this point, do more for you.   There is only one FCC program accredited in Nebraska the last time I looked, so sadly that is just not really something that gets much traction.
