Good question. Do you want an article that describes how to set up teamwork or collaboration or are you looking for something else???

You might check the article library for Child Care Information Exchange. It is easily searchable and their articles are often designed to be used for professional development.

    Hello Leora,

This is such an important topic to explore and discuss with your teaching teams. I have attached a resource packet that I share as part of a presentation called - Gossip Be Gone! The Vital Importance of Positive Communication. It has a resource list with books and articles that might me helpful to you. It also included a short assessment that teams can use to assess their work as a team. When I use this assessment with teams I ask each person to circle two strengths and two areas of growth, and then ask them to discuss as a group and come up with ideas to enhance their work.

I am happy to answer any questions that you have.

    All the best,

Thank you so much for your willingness to share this great resource!  I especially love the section titled "Assessing Your Work as a Team".  Those are terrific reflective questions.

I would suggest the Child Care Exchange book by Ann Pelo and Margie Carter, From Teaching to Thinking: A Pedagogy for Reimagining Our Work. I recently read a new book that has some wonderful thoughts on Reflective Practice, The Art of Reflective Teaching: Practicing Presence, by Carol R. Rodgers, published by Teachers College Press. She sets up a framework for thinking about teaching and even though Rodgers writes about using this with her college students, it is a perfect frame for thinking about how to do collaborate with others in our teaching. I would also suggest another book from Redleaf Press, Reflecting in Communities of Practice: A Workbook for Early Childhood Educators, by Deb Curtis, Debbie Lebo, Wendy Cividanes, and Margie Carter. This is a very practical book that can be used with your teachers to develop how you collaborate as a team, a design that reflects your environment and context.

These will not specifically provide you with checklists or anything else like that but you will be able to use their ideas to design what you need. I would suggest that whatever you choose, you develop your strategies with your teachers, once you have some background knowledge and a framework from which to work.

    Best of luck.

This is a very interesting article on the importance of teacher teams. It is not about ECE but many of the points can be related to our work in ECE. Working in isolation is not a good environment.

    Here is one quote:

    "Strengthening Collaboration

I checked back with the school leaders this past spring, a year after my initial interview, and asked how teacher teams were working. Over the summer and fall of 2020, they had all taken steps to further strengthen collaboration. Jessica Cunningham provided training to support her teams' work. She modeled ways to facilitate a meeting; identified roles individuals might assume during meetings, like co-host, recorder, and tech supporter; and demonstrated engagement strategies teachers could use with both peers and students. . .

. . .Qazilbash reflected on the benefits of collaborating about  school wide decisions: "It's helpful to have the TLT (teacher leadership team) consult with other teachers and think it through with us and say 'Yes this is the right choice' or 'No, let's go in a different direction.' And it's not just for buy-in: It's helpful because often we get a better product."
