  • 1.  Use of Reggio in Nursery

    Posted 10-03-2017 03:57 AM
    Good morning,
I am an instructional coach at an elementary school in Kuwait. Our nursery curriculum is based on the Reggio Emilia program. I have been asked to provide professional development to teachers in nursery. Unfortunately, I have not yet been trained on the use of Reggio. Could someone please assist me with ideas for increasing student achievement for diverse learners?
    Thank you,
    Mary Beth

    Dear Mary Beth,

It is a vast territory - perhaps begin with these websites:
Fondazione Reggio Children | Educazione e Ricerca - Education and research
Home - North American Reggio Emilia Alliance

Wishing you all the best in your journey,

Dear Mary Beth, In all honesty, this is not a topic you can learn from a webpage.  There are many amazing and beautiful components and facets to the inspirations we can glean from Reggio Emilia Philosophy.  You should be prepared to take your time, and really set your goals to understand the history, culture, and nuances of this amazing philosophy.  None of it is easy to grasp in an instance.  It is deep and complex and filled with meaning.  Nevertheless, I do encourage you to begin the journey.  I would suggest any of the books produced by Reggio Emilia educators, as well as Carolyn Edwards, Louise Caldwell, etc..  This website may be of some help: http://www.bestpracticesinc.net/ReggioEmiliaResources.html.   ,
Hope this is helpful.  Wishing you joy on your journey.
