    Hi Savita,
What's your geographic region? I have been in recruiting and hiring, but I can only speak for the Boston area and Western MA...

In MA you need months of experience in a licensed center in addition to your coursework for Teacher Certification. We sometimes hire  someone if they aren't certified if we think they have strong qualifications or are clearly aligned with our values. In order to build your qualifications, I would normally suggest volunteering, but I imagine NC is not allowing volunteers in the classrooms right now because of COVID. Perhaps there is a center that would take a volunteer for other responsibilities? Then you could build relationships in your ECE community.
Also, I recommend reaching out to the faculty who taught the courses you took. They know you - your skills, and personality - and may have specific tips for you in preparing for interviews and approaching center admin about volunteer opportunities.
    I hope that helps!

Yes, you are right. I do have couple of years volunteer experience with children while completing my certificate. That's why I started applying in school. May be I need more practice to prepare my interview. I am also trying to contact my career advisor too. Let's c how it works. Thanks for your inputs to help me! I Appreciate it.

Can you get a letter of recommendation (or maybe two) from the teachers where you got your certification to show at your interview? Was there any hands-on experiences during your training you can talk about? These will help show you have the experience and skills the center is looking for. Good luck!

    Savita,

Many times I interviewed for a teacher position.  I found that I have to go in with "confidence."
Have an "I can do this" attitude.  Stand tall and believe in all the things you know about preschool.
Confidence, use as a mantra during the interview, say I can do that.
    You got this.
    Thank you,

I have found that having a portfolio really impressed people on an interview. Include copies of certificates and transcripts, letters of recommendation, and documentation of your best lessons. If you have photos, include those, just put stickers over kids faces. This also helps initiate conversation about your experience. It shows them what you were able to learn in the field.

This takes a little time to set up, but as you teach, you can add your best lessons so that it is up to date of you see a new position you want or your position ever gets downsized.

    Good luck!
