Hi everyone, We would like to know what  pressing questions people have in regards to our interest forum - Young Children's Spirituality.  We are looking to bring the language of spirituality/spiritual development into all early childhood classrooms by focusing on wonder, awe, joy, and empathy.  We connect to nature, other domains of development, and relationships that include social and emotional development in a deep fundamental way.  What questions do you have?  What books would you like to read as part of a study group?  Last year we read The Book of Joy.  It is filled with amazing insight for all educators.  We hope to hear from you.

This is a topic I am very interested in and am happy to see that there is a forum related to children's spirituality.  I currently work as an early childhood coach working with other coaches and teachers to promote best classroom/home practices.  I would be interested in book suggestions to read as part of a study group.

Hi Becky and others, last year the Young Children's Spirituality Interest Forum had an online book study.  We read the Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Abrams.  I suggest you read this now and in November we will select another book for our next book study.  Thanks for connecting to this Interest Forum.  Please feel free to share thoughts and insights here as you read the book of Joy.

Hi! If you have not already read this book, I would like to read and discuss, The Spiritual Child: The New Science of Parenting for Health and Lifelong Thriving by Lisa Miller, Ph.D.

Thanks Janet for you book suggestion of Lisa Miller's Book The Spiritual Child.  This is the first suggestion to go on our Book study book list.  We will take a vote at our Young Children's Spirituality Interest Forum business meeting at the upcoming NAEYC Conference in Memphis. . . more information forthcoming on this. In the meantime, I hope to get more suggestions so keep ideas flowing.
