1.  Dittos

Good Morning Everyone!

I know the importance of not using dittos in the preschool classroom. I also know that NAEYC and ECERS frowns upon this, but what is everyones thoughts to dictation pages, where a child is asked a question and then has to answer and draw a response for the teacher, This is added later to the child's portfolio. Does anyone have ideas on what can be used in place of dittos, when it comes to graphing and dictation.

Thanks!

These early stages of child development are critical times for hands on learning.  This has been well researched and documented.    I am including the following links to help explain a variety of hands on learning choices and what that looks like in the actual classroom or learning center for young children.  I hope this helps clarify.

Help me understand the purpose of the scenario you describe.  I'm having difficulty with the appropriateness of requiring that a child DRAW something in response to an adult's question.
