  • Representing Early Childhood Science at the National Science Teachers Association Conference

    Greetings!

You are invited to become a part of a very special event to take place during the NSTA Conference in St. Louis, MO – the NSTA Elementary Extravaganza 2019! Friday, April 12, 8:00-10:00 AM, America’s Center, Hall 2.

This event brings together several national and international organizations to provide elementary and early childhood teachers with a variety of teaching strategies and other resources. It will build on the success of previous Extravaganzas that have drawn 1,000 participants. During the Extravaganza participants will engage in hands-on activities, learn about professional development opportunities, preview the CBC/NSTA elementary science trade books, interact with the leaders of NSTA and other national and international organizations, gather information about award and grant programs for elementary teachers, share insights with colleagues, grab a cup of coffee, and learn of opportunities to become more involved in professional organizations. In essence, they will walk away with a head full of ideas and arms filled with materials.

Selected members of the NAEYC Early Childhood Science Interest Forum are invited to become presenters during the Extravaganza. As early educators in science learning, we would like to have you set up an interactive round table featuring a science experience you have provided for your young learners. View the attached link to see the extravaganza in action:

Participants will be provided with your email addresses and will be encouraged to contact you for copies of materials that support the science experience you feature. You will also have the opportunity to upload your materials to the NSTA Conference website. Therefore, you will not be required to provide handouts to participants.

If you are interested in participating, please contact me and I will inform you as to the process you will need to follow to be a part of this special event. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide financial support for this event but hope you will consider participation as a professional contribution.

Please note, this invitation is being sent only to members of the NAEYC Early Childhood Science Interest Forum; however, additional early educators are invited to participate as well. If a separate email to that affect is needed, please contact me at beth.vanmeeteren@uni.edu and I will be happy to provide it.

I’m eager to hear from you concerning your interest to accept or decline this invitation. Our deadline for presenter responses is January 4, 2019.

    Best wishes,
    Beth Van Meeteren
